Date by Text?

Would you accept a first date invite via a text?  Honestly, is romance really that dead?  A friend of mine received a two-message text that went something like this.  “Hey it’s Tom, we met last weekend.  Hope you are having a great week.  I would love to get to know you, are you available for a drink after work this week?  Hope your week is going well.”  How can a girl resist this offer?  Pretty easily, actually.  Do you know what it means to a girl when your first move has no effort?  Phonophobia seems to effect the majority of male brains between the ages of 18 to 40 years of age these days.

Invitation by text usually means you are probably going to pick a place that is convenient to you, without asking what she prefers.  You will probably expect to ‘get some’ despite that you don’t do anything exceptional to deserve it, besides just being you.  That pattern will most likely continue until a girl who has invested enough time becomes weary and vanishes. You will have no clue and wonder, “Where did I go wrong?”  Call it old fashioned, but I think the majority of women still want to be wooed.

Texting for a date is not wooing.  Texting is a great way of quickly communicating if you are in an established relationship, but hearing that little ring tone and the voice of the man you are interested in is quite exciting for a female.  It takes effort, even if you do have to play phone tag for a while.  If you want a better response guys, learn how to woo a woman.

Webster’s dictionary defines woo-ing;  To seek the affection of with intent to romance.  A. To seek to achieve, try to gain.  B. To tempt or invite.  C. To entreat, solicit, importune, or court a woman.

Don’t let texting be the unromantic uniform of normalcy.   Be a Woo-man, it will most likely pay off!
